After an inspiring and impactful evening at our sold-out 'Do More Than Dine' gala on May 1, Scarf's mid-year fundraising campaign continues online! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised an astounding $77,017 at the gala event, bringing us significantly closer to our $125,000 EOFY target.

The demand for Scarf's programs has reached unprecedented levels and we're committed to increasing trainee opportunities to meet demand. In 2024, over 100 young people expressed interest in our hospitality training and employment programs, but we could only offer 40 trainee positions.

With your support, we aim to expand our reach and offer at least 50 new trainee positions in the next 12 months. We'll do this by slowly growing the number of trainee positions offered in each seasonal program, introducing a new, alcohol-free program 'Scarf Hospitality Foundations', and renewing our 'Skill Up with Scarf' short course.

Your tax-deductible donation can make big impact:

  • $125 provides a paid work experience shift for a trainee, often their first taste of paid employment.

  • $400 funds a job-readiness workshop, including vital information about work rights and responsibilities in Australia.

  • $1,000 covers eight shifts for a trainee, with support from an experienced mentor.

These experiences are crucial for building skills, knowledge, confidence, and networks, ensuring we can keep connecting our amazing graduates with jobs, and maintain our 70% post-program employment rate.

Specific Program Support

We're launching Scarf Hospitality Foundations in September 2025, a new, six-month program designed for young people who are eligible for Scarf but can’t work with alcohol. This program offers a practical, inclusive, and culturally safe space to learn hospitality skills, build confidence, and get job-ready. This EOFY, we're specifically seeking 'Scarf Champions' to help us launch this program, with one valued Scarf supporter already coming on board to sponsor the first trainee place! To talk through this unique opportunity to give super tangible support, please contact Hannah Brennan (0488 772 911 / [email protected]).
