The Scarf Board Rosie Thomas Chair Rosie Thomas OAM is cofounder of PROJECT ROCKIT, Australia’s youth-driven movement against bullying, hate and prejudice. Rosie launched PROJECT ROCKIT when she was fresh out of high school. Fast forward almost two decades and that restless idea for change has now directly impacted over 650,000 school students and is set to reach 1 million young Aussies by 2026. Recently, she launched The Project Rockit Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting young people experiencing disadvantage, working to make sure that when it comes to wellbeing, no student is left behind. Rosie is passionate about engineering a kinder digital world and has served on Global Safety Advisory Boards to ensure young people’s voices are heard. Her work has been recognised by UNICEF among the 12 Digital Champions for Children’s Rights in the Digital Age and was honoured in Washington D.C. with the International Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cybersafety. She has also received an Order of Australia Medal, recognising her service to young people and her work against bullying. Rosie has proudly served on the Scarf board since early 2023, and is excited to step into the role of Board Chair in October 2024, leveraging her two decades of leadership to provide meaningful opportunities for young people facing barriers. . Tharindu Jayadeva Secretary Tharindu Jayadeva has a background in public health and community development, and is a proponent of youth participation. Working with youth-led and youth-engaging organisations including Orygen, headspace, batyr and CHASE, he strives to develop more accessible, culturally safe and meaningful platforms for health promotion, education and service provision in partnership with the communities these projects seek to support. From delivering health education programs across Melbourne's western suburbs, to designing youth empowerment projects locally and overseas, Tharindu joined the Scarf board in mid-2022 to continue showcasing the power and ability of young people as change-makers, leaders and innovators within their communities. Outside of work, you'll find him rowing, reading, or leaning into his experience from the hospitality industry and using the kitchen as a tool for storytelling and connection with friends and family. . Hannah Brennan Hannah Brennan OAM wears a few hats at Scarf! She's a co-founder, current CEO, and she's sat on Scarf’s board of directors since 2010. After working in hospitality for over ten years and volunteering with Fitzroy’s refugee community via The Social Studio, Hannah co-founded Scarf with Jess Moran in 2010. Hannah is a Typsy mentor who holds a Bachelor of Multimedia (Media Studies) from Swinburne University of Technology. Her love of cooking lasagna is only matched by her love of eating it. Hannah is highly motivated by the determination, talent, commitment and resilience demonstrated by Scarf trainees and graduates. She holds hope for a more equitable society where all young people are given the opportunity to grow their skills, confidence and connections so they may pursue the job of their dreams. When she's not wearing her 'Scarf' hat, Hannah enjoys spending time with her wife Tara and daughter Maggie, camping, listening to podcasts and cooking lasagna. . Henry Le Henry Le is a first-generation Vietnamese-Australian who has witnessed first-hand the uplifting impact that hospitality and the magical nature of food can have on migrant and refugee communities. Although formally trained as a scientist, Henry has spent the last 7 years working as a consultant in telecommunications, superannuation, insurance, and major retail banking. In 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, he transferred this skillset into the not-for-profit space by co-founding and operating The Covid-19 Employee Assistance Directive, whose “Meals for Hospo” program delivered over 62,000 meals and 100 metric tons of fresh food to unemployed and underemployed hospitality professionals around Melbourne. Henry is excited to be continuing his involvement in social enterprise as a Scarf board member from mid-2022, and seeks to bring a human-centric, digital-driven perspective to the organisation. Outside of the corporate world, Henry runs popular restaurant pop-up Third Culture which celebrates a Vietnamese-Australian perspective. Following just over a year in the Deputy Chair role, Henry became Interim Board Chair from October 2023 - October 2024. . Sarah Agboola Sarah Agboola is an accomplished entrepreneur and leader passionate about driving change. She founded mtime, a marketplace empowering women to reskill and re-enter the workforce, scaling it nationally and earning recognition on Forbes 30 Under 30 and Women’s Agenda's Small Business Leader of the Year in 2022. Beyond her startup successes, Sarah has made a significant impact in the community sector, building a volunteer platform that reached thousands of young people daily and co-founding leadership programs for women of colour. Her expertise in startups, strategy, and community engagement has led to advisory roles with the Australian Government’s National Careers Institute, Australia Post’s Stakeholder Council, and the Foundation for Young Australians. She also served as the 2017 Australian Sherpa for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Alliance and consults for startups in logistics, e-commerce, and social impact sectors. A self-professed foodie, Sarah is excited to join the Scarf board in late 2024 after initially connecting with the organisation at a Scarf Dinner back in 2019. . Zach Iaali Zach Iaali is a financial and commercial manager with over 15 years of experience. He’s worked for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and international consulting firms. Half of his career has been spent overseas, in Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu. He’s held various roles in project management, corporate finance, and global financial planning and analysis. CPA Australia-accredited, Zach has served as a Board Member and Treasurer for other non-profit organisations. He’s currently the Chief Financial Officer at Australian Volunteers International. Zach is passionate about international and social development, and the charity sector in Australia. Self-identifying as a foodie, you’ll often find Zach on bakery trawls on weekends and trying new restaurants. Zach joined the Scarf board in 2024. . Ally Targett Ally Targett is an Employee Relations Specialist with expertise in employment law, governance and workplace strategy. In her current role, she advises on enterprise bargaining, workforce change and compliance, and regularly leads complex workplace investigations. Ally brings a people-centred, risk-aware approach to decision-making, with a focus on building culturally safe and psychologically healthy workplaces. Motivated by Scarf’s mission to create equitable employment pathways, Ally joined the Scarf board in 2025 to contribute legal and ER expertise to strategy, risk and people practices. Her commitment to community impact is demonstrated through her recent Jawun secondment with a First Nations-led organisation and her involvement in The Observership Program with Rawcus Theatre, a 12-month governance program that includes training through the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Ally holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts from Monash University. Outside of work, she is actively engaged in Melbourne’s arts and cultural scene, with a passion for film, art, live performance and food experiences – reflecting her belief in the power of storytelling and shared experiences to connect communities and inspire social change. . . . With a strong track record in international and community development, Sara continues to support Scarf through pro bono program evaluation via her consultancy, Duniya Consulting. She remains closely connected to the Scarf community, regularly attending Scarf Dinners and events, and is a passionate and ongoing champion of our work. . . . Michael Bascetta served as a volunteer Board Member from 2022–2025, after supporting Scarf for many years through his former business, Worksmith. Michael has been a key connector, facilitating highly valuable partnerships with hospitality legends including Unico Zelo, Five Senses Coffee and Reed House. From 2026, Michael continues to support Scarf as an Advisor, helping to strengthen the organisation by coordinating pro bono services through PAX. . . . Lisa Jones served as a volunteer Board Member from 2018–2023, including as Chair during the incredibly challenging COVID-19 pandemic. Lisa currently leads Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand and her career has focused on humanitarian, political and human rights work — including refugees, housing and land rights, gender-based violence, and post-conflict nation building. We're grateful that she remains closely connected to Scarf, regularly attending Scarf Dinners and fundraising events. .
