Skill Up with Scarf

.

Skill Up with Scarf is a 3-day short course, designed for 16 participants to learn basic hospitality skills, grow their knowledge of the hospitality industry in Melbourne, and get ready to launch into employment thanks to awesome, practical job readiness workshops. Because coffee is such an integral part of Melbourne hospitality culture, it includes one day of hands-on espresso coffee training thanks to our partnership with Five Senses Coffee.

Find out more about this short course in our recent community sector newsletter.

Why take part in Skill Up with Scarf?

We surveyed the participants from our first Skill Up with Scarf program, which ran in early 2021, and here's what they had to say:

"For me this course help me a lot to understand what is hospitality in Australia and the [different] roles."

"It was great training, we get a lot of knowledge about work and have confidence to find a job. Thank you for everything."

"I was amazed when I hear about Work Rights and Responsibilities. That is so helpful for me."

"The mock interview sessions was the favourite part of the day as it help me build my confidence to face interviews. Coffee training was great too!"

.
Graduates will also be invited to an online post-program workshop where the Scarf Team will assist them should they be looking to turn their newly acquired knowledge into a hospo job!  Furthermore, all participants who take part in Skill Up with Scarf will become members of our ever-growing Scarf Community, and will be invited to regular community catch-ups and social gatherings, and there may even be the opportunity for them to pick up paid work experience shifts at future Scarf Events.
