Neha

.

Which Scarf program did you take part in?

Winter Scarf '23 at Molly Rose.

Tell us a bit about yourself...

At nearly 20 years old, I still hold onto the hope of gaining more height. I have a fondness for food but a distaste for dishwashing. Making friends comes naturally to me, and I'm still in the process of adapting to the Australian weather.

Why did you apply for the program?

I lacked hands-on experience and struggled to make meaningful connections in the industry.

.

.

What was your experience of job-hunting and applying for jobs before you came to Scarf?

Job-hunting before Scarf was challenging. Scarf provided valuable guidance on resume building and interview skills, making the process more focused and effective.

Scarf provided crucial hands-on experience and networking opportunities.

.

What was the best part of the Scarf program?

The supportive community and practical training were invaluable. Learning in a real restaurant environment made a significant difference. I loved the people I worked with in Scarf because they remind me of my family back at home.

What was it like working with mentors during the program?

Working with mentors was a fantastic experience. Their guidance and insights were instrumental in shaping my professional growth, offering practical advice and industry perspectives.

.

What did the program help with the most?

Scarf provided crucial hands-on experience and networking opportunities, bridging the gap between training and securing a job.

Did the Scarf program help to increase your confidence? If so, why?

Yes, the Scarf program significantly boosted my confidence. The supportive environment, hands-on experience, and mentorship helped me develop the skills and assurance needed for a successful transition into the workforce.

.

Scarf connected me with Mjølner, where I currently work about 25 hours per week. I love the collaborative atmosphere within the team.

.

.

Did any job opportunities come from the program?

Scarf connected me with Mjølner, where I currently work about 25 hours per week. It opened doors and provided a platform for me to showcase my skills.

What is your favourite part of your current job?

I love the creative aspect of my role at Mjølner and the collaborative atmosphere within the team.

What advice do you have for future trainees?

Embrace every learning opportunity at Scarf, network actively, and don't hesitate to showcase your unique skills. It can truly make a difference.
